Production: EMEK capacitive voltage transformers are manufactured in Ankara Turkey.

Special Design: Non standard core data, creepage, seismic, etc. designs are available on request.

Standards: All transformers are subjected to full routine tests as described in relevant standards. Type tests can also be  performed in our own testing laboratories but should be negotiated during the order stage.

Quality Assurance: Emek is ISO 9001 certified by both ABS Quality Evaluations Inc. and TSE, Turkish Standards Institute.


Frequency: 50 Hz, 60 Hz.

Rated Secondary Voltage: 1 10/V3, 100/V3 V etc. in conformity with customer requirement.

Rated Tertiary Voltage: 110/V3, 100/V3, 110/3, 100/3, 100, 110V etc. in conformity with customer requirement.

Highest System Voltage: Highest system voltage from 36 to 420 kV.

Number of Secondary Windings: In conformity with customer requirements.

Voltage factor: 1.2 x Un continuous /1.5 x Un for 30 sec. or 1.9x un for 8 hrs.

Standards: IEC, BS, ANSI, AS, other standards on request.

Hermetic Seal: Oil volume variations are compensated with teflon bellows placed in the capacitive parts. With this facility there will be no contact between air and oil. The dielectric strength will remain unchanged for the life time of the CVT.

Primary Terminals: Primary terminals are made from tin plated brass. Vertical and horizontal primary terminals are available. Nema pad or clamp type primary terminals are available on request.

Name Plate: Name plates are stainless steel and weatherproof.

External Binding Elements: All external bolts, nuts, washers etc. are either stainless steel or hot dip galvanised steel.

Painting:  External surface of the transformers are corrosion free and painted with grey colour (optional).

Earthquake Design: Standard design is up to 0.6g.

Mechanical Strength: Applied load to the primary terminal in horizontal and vertical is in conformity with IEC 60044-5

Ambient Temperature: Standard design is suitable for temperature range -25 °C to + 40 °C. Other ranges on request.

Altitude: Standard design is suitable up to 1000 m above sea level. Higher values on request.

Carrier Accessories: If advised at order stage provision can be provided to mount line traps.

Tuning: The CVT is tuned in the factory and sealed. No further tuning on site is required.

Bracelet: All bracelets used on transformers are made from aluminium alloy.

Storage: It is recommended to store the transformers in their factory packed condition prior to installation.

Packing: The transformers are packed in rugged wooden crates which are suitable for transportation. The transformers are encapsulated in polyethylene covers to keep them from environmental effects such as rain-fall, dust and sand etc. (during transport and storage). Wooden crates can be lifted by either a fork lift or by a crane with slings.

Spare Part: There are no user serviceable parts, therefore no spare parts are required.

Maintenance: Maintenance free, simple recommendations:

  • A Complete and thorough inspection should be carried out in every year
  • Clean the porcelain bushing at regular intervals depending on the degree of pollution.
  • Ensure that there is no oil leakage.
  • Periodical measurement of capacitance and power factor are recommended.

Special Tools: No special tools are required for the maintenance.


Description:The capacitor stacks in Emek CVTs are the mixed type which means paper and plastic film are used together as the dielectric. Capacitor elements are stacked and bound together to maintain constant pressure. The electrodes are made from soft rolled aluminium.

Oil Insulation: The insulating oil is synthetic capacitor oil before impregnation, moisture and gases are removed from the oil by special process.

Oil Impregnation: Heat and vacuum are applied after assembly of the capacitive unit for drying purposes, followed immediately by oil impregnation procedure.

Bushings: Capacitor stacks are housed in porcelain bushings. One single bushing is used for voltage level 36 -170 kV and multi bushings are used for voltage level 245-420 kV. Bushings are brown glazed porcelain. Other colours and extra high creepage distance are available on request.


Description: The hot dip galvanized steel tank houses the oil impregnated magnetic unit.

Paper Insulation: Oil impregnated paper, high dielectric strength, low dielectric losses.

Core: High quality sheet steel cores are used.

Oil Insulation: The insulating oil is mineral oil in conformity with IEC 296. Before impregnation, moisture and gases are removed from the oil by special processes. Drain plug for taking samples and oil refilling facilities are provided on request. Floating type oil level indicator is standard supply.

Oil Impregnation: Heat and vacuum are applied to the fully insulated windings after assembly of the magnetic unit for drying purposes, followed immediately by oil impregnation procedure.

Accessories: Fixing holes, lifting holes, secondary terminal box, name plate and warning plates are also provided in our standard design.

Secondary Terminal Box : Hinged type boxes are used and are sealable on request. Secondary box consists of secondary terminals, spark gap, earthing switch, drain coil, low voltage terminal and earthing terminal. Secondary terminals are clamp type, other types are also available on request. Fuses or MCB's are also available on request.

Tank: Tank is made from hot dip galvanized steel and painted with grey colour (optional). The magnetic unit consists of the reactor (inductance coil), short circuit protection device, anti ferro resonance filter and intermediate transformer.

Primary Windings:  Enamelled electrolytic copper wire is used for primary windings of intermediate voltage transformer.

Secondary Windings: Enamelled electrolytic copper wire is used for secondary windings of intermediate voltage transformer.
